CORONADO PROJECT
OUR PRINCIPAL DESIGNER’S HOME
Nestled in the beloved Coronado Historic District of Phoenix, Arizona, this 1939 home is our founder Ariel Roberts’ personal residence - and a living embodiment of the Roberts Studio Design philosophy: bold character, layered storytelling, and livable sophistication. This home was a true labor of love, with its current iteration brought to life in just six weeks in preparation for the 2025 Historically Modern Coronado Home Tour. Ariel gathered her favorite vendors and artisans from the RSD Rolodex, collaborating closely to renovate, furnish, and style every room with intention and flair. Inside this two-bedroom, one-bath home (with a home office, father-in-law casita, quonset hut, and English-style garden), every square foot serves a purpose. The home’s kitchen refresh, bathroom renovation, and furnishing design combine to create a cohesive visual story rooted in comfort and individuality. The décor is a healthy eclectic mix - mid-century modern silhouettes paired with traditional elements, Arts & Crafts details, European influences, and an art collection amassed from years of travel. The herringbone tile flooring runs throughout the main living spaces and adds timeless movement and durability. Never one to shy away from color play, Ariel chose thirteen paint colors across four finishes to create dimension and visual rhythm from room to room. Custom storage units and creative space planning make the small footprint feel expansive, supporting modern family life with children and pets - without ever compromising style. The result is a home that feels deeply personal and richly textured - where every turn reveals color, pattern, and history in conversation. Ariel’s signature balance of old-world charm and Arizona practicality extends outdoors. The English cottage garden, thoughtfully planted with Phoenix-friendly foliage, blurs the line between landscape and architecture - creating a sanctuary for both beauty and resilience.
“This home is my heart project - a study in how personal design can be both soulful and functional. Every finish tells a story, and every inch was considered for how our family really lives.”
